“Pride” They Only Told Half the Story. We’re Telling the Rest. (Myth, Balance & Reclaiming Worth)
We’ve heard that our whole lives.
Like pride was something dangerous.
Something to fear.
One of the seven deadly sins.
But maybe that warning was never about keeping us safe ...—
maybe it was about keeping us small.
They love to quote Icarus flying too close to the sun.
But they always leave out the other half of the story:
Fly too low, too close to the sea, and the mist ruins your wings too.
The lesson was never “don’t rise.”
It was: balance.
And for those of us taught to live low,
to erase ourselves, to bow and apologize for our existence —
having pride isn’t a sin.
It’s healing.
It’s dignity.
It’s us remembering we were always meant to fly.
