My 2011 Gift Guide for The Horror Fan in Your Life

My eyes have been feasting on all the great gift guides around. Seriously, I need to remind myself that I don’t need ALL of it. I just want ALL of it. So, in classic mimic-style, I’m sharing too. I think it probably goes without saying, but I want to mention that I have no affiliations with the companies that have made these items.

1. Horror Novel We Have Always Lived In The Castle
It’s beautifully macabre. Once I began reading, I couldn’t stop. Sad, not in a crying way, but in that somehow beautiful melancholic way. It’s depiction of comfort coming from a routine of mundane things we do in life. At some points delving into great detail of setting the table for tea, making a list for the market, and gardening. All of which sound like they’d make for a dull read- they aren’t. If you’d like to read my full blog post about, see it here

2. Bloody Hand-print Shower Curtain
During a movie I was filming last Spring, I saw this shower curtain in the producer’s pathroom. It made me chuckle with the great nod tp Hitchcock. I found this on online at Flashwear.com But I am sure you could find it just about anywhere online if you search for it.

3. Brass Octopus Necklace via Etsy
Forget wearing it. I wanna hang it in my bathroom. I saw this hulking necklace while looking online at Canadian necklace maker Chrys Designs on the website Etsy.com. (For those that don’t know, Etsy’s a site where artists sell their trinkets & goods.) It’s a fun design, and there are a ton more than just the octopus necklace to choose from.

4. Blood Concept Cologne/Perfume
Independent Italian perfumery house created a line of scents based on blood type. They say “The human body is totally pervaded by a liquid vital rush that brings us what we are most fond of: Life. Filled with legends and meanings‚ blood is soaked with mystery, fascination and respect: it’s the most tested and studied part of the human body. Hiding the multitude of secrets that reveals our inner and unique way of being. BLOOD Concept is a ceremony devoted to the pulse of life and its visceral boost. It is actually the river of life.

5. Mother-In-Laws Tongue Plant (AKA Snake Plant)

Not only is it a cheeky nod to your spouse’s mother, it’s also listed on NASA’s list of the top plants to clean indoor air of toxins. Many people use this plant in their bedrooms as it can tolerate low light and it is at night that this particular plant creates oxygen. Mother-in-laws Tongue plants are readily available at local florist shops.
Depending on size the price is usually $15-$45

6. Modern Alchemy Candles
Wonderfully dark and mysterious candles that seem to belong on the desk of a vampire. With names like Salem, Ex Libris, and Tincture of Winchester.
