After the several block walk with an illiterate woman getting her cigarettes today, I walked on feeling like I had one of the most amazing abilities in the world. She had approached me at the bus stop and asked me to walk with her to read the bus detour signs directing pedestrians through the mile of road reconstruction. I wish I could say that I hadn’t started out by looking around to see if anyone else would help her, and upon not seeing anyone muttering under my breath about how busy I am and am on a schedule, blah blah blah. Sometimes my inner monologue just needs to shut up.
