A fifth grade girl who kills giants. Has a sassy response to everyone & must deal with accepting illness and even death as a part of life..
This teen graphic novel made me sad & happy. The subject matter is hefty stuff: Learning to live on, be thankful for the time together we get on Earth, and even fleetingly touches on metal illness.
Certainly topics that are not for the faint of heart. The underlying message is a simple one, heartwarming.
“All things that live, die…
you must find joy in the living, while the time is yours and not fear the end.
To deny this is to deny life.
To fear this is to fear life.
But to embrace this… You are stronger than you think.” -Joe Kelly, author of I Kill Giants
I found it to be a good read & the drawings get better with each page turn.
