Intermedio: That Time I Got Hunted in a B-Horror Movie

If you love campy horror, questionable decision-making, and an obnoxious amount of smoke-machine fog, let me introduce you to a little film called INTERMEDIO.

This 2005 B-horror masterpiece (read: glorious chaos) was cooked up by the fine folks at The Asylum—the same production company behind Sharknado and Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus—so you already know what you’re in for.

The plot? A group of suspiciously old-looking teenagers (I’m looking at you, EDWARD FURLONG (Terminator 2: Judgment Day), AMBER BENSON (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and CERINA VINCENT (Cabin Fever)) head into an abandoned tunnel near the U.S.-Mexico border. Because of course, nothing bad ever happens in an abandoned tunnelSTEVE RAILSBACK (Lifeforce) plays the grizzled guy who knows too much (classic horror character), and I, PAUL CRAM, am also there—looking like a lost middle schooler who wandered onto set.

But surprise! The tunnel is full of vengeful ghosts who are very into stabbing people. We run. We scream. (I might not be running from the ghosts but maybe my father…). There’s some truly inventive lighting choices (aka darkness). And somehow, despite all odds, I made it out of this film with all my limbs attached.

Is it high art? Nope.
Is it a blastAbsolutely.

If you love B-movie horror with heart, give Intermedio a watch. And then text me when you get to that scene. You’ll know the one.
